Dog Nail Trimming

Nail Trimming

Properly trimmed nails are an essential task to help your dog feel happy and healthy. Nails that are too long risk being torn off and usually cause dogs discomfort. At Wag N' Wash, we provide a comfortable nail trimming experience for your dog using a nail grinder. With our grinder, we are able to smooth out rough edges on your dog's nails and reduce scratches while keeping nails shorter for longer.

Benefits of Nail Trimming

There are many reasons why regular nail trimming is important. Properly trimmed nails are healthy for your dog and it's much better for your floors, too. Overgrown nails can lead to pain and infections in your pet's paw. With frequent nail trimming, you can make sure your dog's nails are at a healthy length.

  • Ingrown Nails
    Ingrown Nails

As nails grow, they begin to curve and push into the paw pad. Ingrown nails often need to be surgically removed and could lead to weeks of recovery.

  • Infection
    Infection

Nails have dirt and germs caught under them. This can cause a nasty infection if the nail cuts into your dog’s paw pad.

  • Broken Nails

Broken or splintered nails are common when a dog has not had his nails trimmed recently. This is painful for your dog.

  • Joint Problems

The pressure from the nail hitting the floor can lead to chronic pain in the toe joints. This may cause your dog to walk funny or whimper in pain.

Scheduling Appointments

Appointments are required for full-service pet grooming, but we welcome walk-ins for our dog nail trimming services. We recommend calling your locally owned Wag N' Wash for appointments one week in advance during the regular season and at least three weeks in advance during the holiday season. Contact us to discuss potential cat grooming services, to make a dog grooming appointment or for a price estimate.

Vaccination Records

We require all pets to be current on their rabies vaccinations and wait at least 48 hours after vaccinations before checking in for services. Proof of rabies vaccination in the form of paperwork from a veterinarian is required. The waiting period is to make sure the pet has had no reactions to the vaccination. All pets over 4 months must show proof of current rabies vaccination. Some state laws require additional vaccinations. Please contact your local store for details.

Self-Wash & Professional Pet Grooming

If your dog has rolled in something stinky or is simply smelling too "doggy", it may be time for a trip to a self-wash station! Located conveniently inside each Wag 'N Wash location, these self-wash grooming stations come with everything you need to pamper your pooch. But as fun and convenient as our self-service wash is, we know that do-it-yourself pet grooming is not always on your favorite way to spend your free time! That's why Wag N' Wash offers full-service, professional grooming at every location. Even if you do enjoy bathing your pup, everyone deserves a spa day once in a while!
