Keep Your Pet Hydrated This Summer

Summer is here again and, while we're looking forward to all the outdoor activities with our companions, this time of year presents an increased risk of dehydration. Though we cannot force our pets to drink more water, there are ways that we can encourage them or entice them into doing so.

  • Always provide fresh drinking water for your companions.
  • Consider adding wet food or kibble toppers, such as bone broth, into your pet's diet. Not only will this sneak more water in, but your pet will view it as a special treat!
  • For those pets that prefer to chew, consider freezing bone broth, goat's milk or even just water into ice cubes. They will love these cool summer treats!

It's important to remember that pets can become dehydrated very quickly.

Keep a close eye on your pets and call your veterinarian if you notice these signs of dehydration:

  • Sunken eyes
  • Lethargy
  • Dry, tacky gums
  • Loss of appetite
  • Excessive panting
  • Dry nose

At Wag N' Wash, you'll find a wide variety of wet foods and topper options that your pet will love. Keep your pet hydrated this summer to keep 'em waggin'!
