Bonding with your Pet

Although our pets give us their unconditional love, we still need to make sure we're putting the work into maintaining a healthy, loving and trusting relationship with them. Whether you've just adopted a new pet or you've been together for 10 years, it's important to always carve out time to bond over things your pet loves to do!

Bonding with your dog

Your dog probably enjoys most things, as long as they're with you. It's really about making the time to do it. Whether you're out enjoying the sunshine or stuck inside on a rainy day, there are plenty of things to do with your pup that they'll love.

  • Go for a walk, hike or jog together
  • Train your dog by teaching new tricks or working on behavioral skills
  • Play games such as fetch or hide and seek
  • Have your dog solve puzzles
  • Belly rubs
  • Give them a bath or simply brush their coat

Bonding with your cat

Bonding with your cat may seem slightly more challenging than with your dog because cats sleep 15 hours a day on average! Not to worry; that still leaves enough quality time for you and your feline friend. Try these:

  • Use toys for playtime, such as feather and ribbon wands
  • Give them a catnip toy they'll go crazy over
  • Have a good old-fashioned cuddle session
  • Head scratches
  • If they like it, brush your cat
Give them space when they want it and let them come to you

Bonding through eating

We've said this before and we'll say it again: feeding your pet a nutritious meal is a big way to show that you love them. Eating a healthy meal can be something you can do together every day. Stop by Wag N' Wash to learn about the variety of healthy, high-quality dog and cat foods we carry. With food this tasty, your pet won't mind eating healthier!

Bonding through communication

Have you noticed how your pet knows you so well? They comfort you when you've had a bad day or cuddle with you when you're tired. They pick up on our signals to give us what we need; we should do the same for them.

Anytime you're spending time with your pet, always remember to pay attention to the way your pet communicates. Watch for signals such as body language and verbal cues to understand how your pet is feeling.

If you're looking to enhance your relationship with your furry friend, come into Wag N' Wash and let us help. Whether with toys, stress-free bath time or healthy treats and food, we've got something your best furriend will love!
