International Women's Day
This International Women's Day, we celebrate a few of our female store owners. These women are passionate about making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners in their communities.
Anne Forrest, Owner of Wag N' Wash California, MD
Anne Forrest and her husband, Dr. Kirk Forrest, opened Wag N' Wash California in 2016. Prior to opening Wag N' Wash California, Dr. Kirk Forrest, a veterinarian for over 30 years, and Anne, previously owned St. Mary's Veterinary Hospital in Lexington Park, MD.
"After selling the practice, we were interested in getting back into business and wanted to stay close to the local pet community. We loved the idea of providing a unique and positive service to our community that people need and love," Anne added. "Wag N' Wash offers a tremendous opportunity for us to provide dogs, cats and even their humans with a unique experience unlike any other. Where else can you wash 'em, feed 'em, and spoil 'em all in one cool place?"
Anne and Kirk host communal events such as local pet adoptions, dog and cat vaccinations, and pet wellness seminars. "We pride ourselves in being pet lovers who understand that they are also beloved family members." says Anne. "Our team is dedicated to enhancing the lives of dogs and cats right here in California."
Even in the midst of battling Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Anne's dedication to and passion for serving pets and their owners in the community remains. Between chemotherapy treatments, Anne stays happily devoted to pets coming in and out of Wag N' Wash. "Our view of customers as guests and their focus on exceptional service provided by well-trained staff is the same philosophy we held while operating the veterinary hospital."
Laura Leder, Owner of Wag N' Wash Cherry Hill, NJ
Since opening her store in 2016, owner Laura Leder's goal has been to provide each pet owner with an incredible experience in an inviting and friendly atmosphere. "Our dogs and cats deserve the best." Says Laura. "Pets hold a special place in our hearts. They greet us after a long day of work, snuggle up with us, cover us in kisses, and become members of our family."
Before opening Wag N' Wash, Laura explored several models when she began investigating the purchase of a franchise pet supply store. The idea of owning a pet-related business was not only appealing, but also a natural transition for the Pennsylvania farm owner and animal lover.
"Once I met with founders Jef and Dan, I knew Wag N' Wash was the one," she said. "The company is not only well organized with regards to franchisee setup, but it just felt like home."Laura then sold the farm and opened her own Wag N' Wash franchise in September 2016.
Upon opening, the store had exceeded all expectations, and soon Laura began to hire more staff. "The response from the community was amazing," she said. "We have some big-box pet retailers nearby, but people want to support local business and have commented on our customer service and the overall atmosphere of our store. People also like the fact that they can do everything here" wash their dog, pick up food, purchase bakery treats or have their dog professionally groomed."
Laura is passionate about spreading love for pets and their owners in the Cherry Hill community. The work that she has put into her store as well as efforts to ensure the best experience for her customers works toward our goal here at Wag N' Wash to enhance the bond between pets and their owners.
