Product Highlight: The Itch Is Back Oatmeal Shampoo
Published on: February 7, 2018
Itchy skin is a common problem amongst dogs and causes can be anything from allergies to hot spots. If you notice your dog is scratching more than usual, make an appointment at your regular veterinarian. He can help you determine the cause of the itching and possibly find a permanent solution. If a dog has a severe itch left untreated, he can cause serious damage by constantly using their nails or teeth to get at it. In the meantime, there are ways to help relieve your companion’s suffering. We suggest you start with a soothing bath using Wag N’ Wash’s The Itch Is Back oatmeal shampoo.
About The Itch Is Back
Wag N’ Wash’s The Itch Is Back anti-itch shampoo is a gentle, natural all-purpose moisturizing shampoo. The anti-itch formula contains natural colloidal oatmeal to soothe and moisturize dry, itchy skin on pets. It produces a rich, thick lather that deep cleans without drying, yet is mild enough to use on pets of all ages. It contains no harsh additives or ingredients that build up in the coat. The Itch Is Back anti-itch shampoo rinses easily and leaves coats luxurious, healthy and shiny. As with all of our shampoos, it’s pH balanced for cats and dogs, biodegradable and cruelty free!
How Oatmeal Shampoo Works
Oatmeal shampoo helps relieve itchiness in two ways. First, it helps clear away any dirt and debris that may be in the coat. Dogs love to roll around outside, and it’s not always easy to see what’s in their fur. If they’ve gotten into any irritants like certain plants or chemicals, this could cause itchiness. Secondly, the oatmeal will help soothe the skin and aid it in recovery. According to vetinfo.com, “this is due to the fact that the oatmeal contains a substance known as avenanthramide, which combined with the phenols in the oatmeal will have a beneficial effect on irritated skin.”
When to use Oatmeal Shampoo
The Itch Is Back oatmeal shampoo is gentle enough to be used regularly, or as needed. If your pet only suffers from itchy skin occasionally, then you may only need to use oatmeal shampoo during these problem times. However, if your pet has chronic dry, itchy skin or has seasonal allergies that dry their skin for long periods, consider making an oatmeal bath part of your regular routine. Breeds prone to allergies include Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, Cocker Spaniels, Boxers and Bichon Frises. If your dog spends most of it’s time indoors and doesn’t get particularly dirty, you can bathe them every 4 – 6 weeks. If your dogs does a lot of outdoor activities, you may want to increase that frequency.
The Itch Is Back can be found in Wag N’ Wash self-washes and for sale in the retail area of most locations. Stop by your local Wag N’ Wash for more info on this or any of other shampoos and conditioners.
